House lawmakers PASS the Tax Bill to cut $1 trillion from Medicaid and SNAP (food stamps) funding.

The House passes Trump’s Tax Bill to slash hundreds of billions in funding from Medicaid, SNAP, and social programs that impact low-income communities.

The proposed cuts to Medicaid undermine state behavioral health systems, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. This impacts more than 80 million low-income individuals. Slashing Medicaid funding would compromise the ability of Black counselors - as providers of culturally competent care - to provide timely and effective care. Slashing Medicaid funding also exacerbates health disparities that widen the gap between privileged and marginalized communities. Cuts to Medicaid funding could lead states to decrease the number of people eligible for Medicaid and/or reduce provider payment rates, limiting access to needed care and disrupting provider funding.
